Cloudless

Puff counter

Tap once for each puff. Counting for a few ordinary days tells you your real number, which is where any plan to cut down starts. No signup, and the counts stay on this device.

Turn your average into a plan

Your daily limit

Pick a number a little under your average. Going over it is information, not a failure: the count keeps going and nothing resets. If you want the limit to drop a little every day, the taper planner works that out.

Your busiest hours

A daily total tells you how much. The hours tell you when, and that is where a plan can change something: the hour after lunch, the drive home, the last hour before bed. Pick your busiest hour and plan one swap for it.

Keep a copy

The CSV has one row per day you counted, with the hour by hour split, so you can open it in any spreadsheet. Delete all counts clears this browser and can't be undone.

Why call them clouds?

So the screen doesn't say what it is. If someone glances at your phone, "38 clouds today" reads like the weather. Counting cigarettes instead? Same idea: one tap per cigarette. The Cloudless app works the same way for both.

Where are my counts stored?

Only in this browser on this device. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. If you clear your browser data or use a private window, the counts go with it.

Is a puff a reliable unit?

Not between devices. People on Reddit question whether a puff is a standard measure at all, so compare your days with each other, not with someone else's number. We don't convert puffs into nicotine or cigarettes, because a puff isn't a standard amount.

What this tool can't do

It doesn't know how much nicotine is in a puff, so it won't turn puffs into milligrams or cigarettes. It can't sync between devices or back up your counts on its own: download the CSV if you want a copy. It only adds to today, so past days can't be edited. And it isn't medical advice.

Frequently asked questions

Is the puff counter free?

Yes. There's no signup and no ads, and you can use it for as long as you like.

Does it work for cigarettes?

Yes. Tap once per cigarette. The labels say clouds either way, so the screen doesn't say what you're counting.

What if I forgot to count some puffs?

Use the button for puffs you forgot, as many times as you need for today. Earlier days can't be changed, so treat a missed day as a gap rather than a zero.

Does it need an internet connection?

Only to open the page. Once it's open, taps are saved on this device, because nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I get my counts out?

Yes. Download CSV saves every day you counted as a spreadsheet file, and Delete all counts clears this browser.
